I have a samsung galaxy tablet only wifi available. Can someone give me an idea on what should I buy as for?

a wifi spot. I live in los angeles, and only use about 1gig of internet. So what should I buy. Verizon wants 50 dollars for 5 gigs, ATT wants 40 dollars. Its not worth it to spend this much money. Can someone give me an idea what to do. ??
The Wifi wont be used that offen only that if I am out on the street and need to look up something I want to use the tablet. Any suggestions.

P.S your bandwidth will be shared when connecting thro' that, it might slow up the connection/download
