based on the fb messages, is he nervous or uninterested?

So 4 of my friends told me that this guy thinks I'm cute.

My friends say he's shy and awkward around girls (especially girls he thinks he cute) but there was so many opportunities to talk to me and he didnt....

and when we were sitting together, his friend came over to my side and started talking to me and i was getting into the conversation and John just got up and walked over to the other side of the room (maybe he felt jealous..?)

But after that week, my friend said he was hanging out John and I asked him to mention john about me. he told my friend that he couldn't wait till summer (meaning he couldn't wait till the summer to see me)

fast-foward to this week (a month later...)
I finally messaged him
this is our convo:

me: Hey!
him: hey whatsup
me: just got out of class. hbu? hows berkeley? (i go to school in LA)
him: it's all right. just trying to do well in my classes lol
me: you trying to be a lawyer? what kind of lawyer? haha
him: haha probably corporate or international. havent decided yet haha hbu?
me: are you going to law school right after? i want to be a city planner for SF!
him: nah im probably going to take a year off to work or something
me: oh me too haha. i want to work in the bay area before applying to grad schools. i just want to get out of socal already lol
him: oh yeah the bay is hella chill. haha isn't there a lot of stuff to do in socal tho?
me: hmm.. i guess but i went everywhere already haha. but i ran into some celebrities!
him: oh thats cool haha. yeah my friend in socal ran into a laker player while grocery shopping. hella lucky
me: yeah! i ran into kobe bryant at my school gym haha. but lakers are whatever tho..
him: oh what damn thats cool that a basket player can play pickup at the gym. haha. yeah the lakers arent doing pretty well this season lol
me: Haha I know right? Even I can do better. Just kidding I can't even touch the net LOL.


does it seem like he's interested? or just replying out of politeness? how come he never asks me questions about myself?
keep in mind that between the messages, he took few hours to a day to reply back on facebook.

He saw my message 7 hours ago and didn't reply. BUT this has happened before. He would read (i know this because fb lets you know if the person read it or not) my message and then reply back hours later at night.

just sounds like he's generally speaking; nothing special. I think if he liked you, he would make comments about you. And the fact that he didn't continue the discussion makes me also think he doesn't like you like that. Usually when you like someone, you make stuff up to talk about.

If he was, he'd at least ask you questions about yourself.

Not even Einstein would be able to tell if he's interested just from reading your conversation with him. If your friends told u he thought you're cute, then maybe he is interested. It's really hard for shy people to approach people they like so sometimes it's hard to tell
