Is Google Chrome safe as they say?

Today was a little scary lol My friend and i were on Myspace using Google Chrome. And then suddenly things started to install itself from the browser. i tried to stop it but it wouldn't respond. My friend knows alot about computers, so he quickly grabs the keyboard and started pressing these keys and told me to quickly turn off the internet because someone might be trying to hack in! He was able to close the browser and i turned off the internet. We ran the anti-virus just in case. After the scan completed, i turned back on the internet and we use firefox then on and nothing else happened. So i think he helped me avoid getting hacked.

Now im a little nervous to use Chrome. Google always creates great stuff, and they say they focused alot on security. But after today im not so sure. I loved using the browser until his happened.

Im going to stick with the Fox until i know how safe is Google chrome really. So how safe is it?

I been with Firefox Since the Start . i beta test Google Chrome.
and Norton Keep on Stopping Attacks on my PC . so i stop testing it .
when it came out . i Download it and tried out full version of it . Norton once Stopped Attacks on my Pc . But when Using Firefox or IE there no Attacks on my PC. that's when i said i was never going use Chrome again .and i just stick with Firefox

Google Chrome is a stable browser I can say. I've been using it since they released it and no cons I can say. It's one of the best browser ever made! If you use gmail, it really runs smoothly! I recommend you this!

On other hand, Firefox isn't really reliable at all since virus can pass through.

Safari is also a good one but it's not consumer friendly.

IE is the worst I can say. It's vulnerable to all threats! If possible never use it!

I like to say onething to you.
Google chrome will crash quickly at someoccasions.But i am using google chrome for orkut,youtube and all.I feel somewhat better when i open their sites at their browser.

I used lot of browsers like Firefox,opera,safari,crazy,Smart and some others.

HOWEVER 100% I SUGGESST MOZILLA FIREFOX.

i havent hadany problems with chrome, but i think its all preference.
ive tried mozilla, ie, chrome, etc. ie has to be the worst, and i simply dont like mozilla. so i stuck with chrome. but i think most of it has to do with your preference
