Does the Government watch everything I do online?

My son is a little bit of an activist really, and he uses TOR a lot. Do you think that the government monitors my internet connection a lot? Since, he and I use the same connection....
I don't use TOR, he does. Actually, I think that's all he uses. His only browsers are TOR, and IE

If a government agency is not watching, analyzing and archiving, the tech giants are.
The bottom line is that absolutely nothing anyone does online can be considered private.

No unless you are doing something illegal using you're internet for example piracy and others. Although there is some controversy about the government spying on your personal info though. Just ask Edward Snowden.

The government does keep records of everything we do. They target Tor users even more. But the good thing is that Tor has not been compromised, the software that accesses the Tor network has. Tell him to NEVER EVER use Windows or his every day OS or the Tor bundle. The government has been exploiting a flaw in Firefox and will install software on Windows to know what Tor users are doing.

So what software should he use?
Put Liberte Linux or TAILS on a USB and boot from it.
