Wi-fi is another name for a wireless LAN. it is set up using wireless LAN cards at each node ( computer). a wireless internet connection is basically such a wireless LAN adapter, which is supplied an ISP ( for eg, vodafone, or reliance). Actually it is just a wireless link between you and the ISP's server. So, in other words, a wireless internet connection is achieved through a wi-fi LAN connection.
