my taskbar says i'm offline when i'm actually online?
The question is pretty self explanatory. my task-bar says i'm offline when i'm actually online, I am on Windows 7 and I am connected to a wireless internet, now this would be fine if I didn't have OCD... -.- But I do, and I want to fix it.

I've tried Google searching but everything that came up didn't work at all.

Please help as this is really frustrating me .-.

The problem most likely is that your pc can't connect to the gateway meaning that it's connected but isn't going anywhere!

You may need to either reset your router's gateway, factory reset it, or create a static IP.

To access your router do the following:
1. Open Command Prompt or CMD (Either is fine)
2. Type ipconfig
3. Find Wireless Lan Adapter or Ethernet adapter Ethernet (Depends on what you have)
4. Copy the gateway address and paste it into the url box of your browser.
5. Login with username as admin and password as password
6. go to troubleshoot and click on restart gateway (If it asks for a code, look at the bottom or such on your router or modem)
7. If it still doesn't work do the following again but on step 6 factory restore.

When you say you are online, have you checked that you can access the Internet and possibly access other devices on your home network?

I have a similar problem with a Netbook running Windows XP. It is normally okay when it has had a fresh full boot, but the problem occurs fairly regularly when I hibernate the netbook, which I use as this allows it to start much faster than a full boot sequence. The icon in the notification area (bottom right of the screen) says there is no network connection, but the network is working properly.

This is one of the many wonders of Microsoft. I suspect it relates to the exact sequence in which various background processes start up, but I am not sure how to fix it.

If your wireless connection is normally reliable, then I suggest that you look for the option not to display the icon in the notification area and see if this prevents you worrying about the issue.

I hope this helps.
