I am losing internet connection periodically?

The past couple days, I have been periodically losing internet access for about 30 seconds.I looked on my router security settings page and noticed I have been getting port scanned (upd port scanned). I noticed that the times i lose internet connection are the times i get port scanned. I think they might be connected but I'm not sure.
ps. I'm not very tech savvy.

Not likely a port scan is going to cause you to lose your internet connection.Only if your security program is set up that way.Port scans happen all the time.My guess would be your router is having problems.If you haven't power cycled it yet that the first thing you should do.Shut down computer, turn off or unplug router wait 10 seconds.Then turn power back on,wait for the router to connect then turn on your computer. Hopefully this will do it.
