Gumtree similiar to ebay?
What is the selling and buying procedure, in layman terms, on gumtree?
To me, it sounds like its a notice-board without the security and safety that ebay provides. So if I sold something, payment would be via, how exactly? Paypal? Or is it mainly cash on collection? Sounds there's more pitfals with gumtree if a sale goes horribly wrong. It'd be great to find a website similiar to ebay, that has a similiar auction/buy it now structure, a secure payment system like Paypal, feedback (but slightly better), and I don't mind the fees but not on postage or anything else that makes it tough to sell. Gumtree is local sales. You could buy from elsewhere of course and set up a meet etc.
Always take steps to ensure your safety though. Most things on gumtree are being sold by the chap along the street or somebody a bus ride away. Some will actually bring things to your home. Payment is cash when picking up / having delivered. It is safest to always have someone with you whatever means you agree with the seller so you do not meet strangers on your own. Ads |

Leave Gumtree well alone unless you like being ripped off.
