How to fix choppy video playback?
I've had this problem before, but restoring my system to a previous point has fixed it in the past. This time it is tenacious. I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash and done all the obvious steps. So far no one seems to have a solution.

The video chops every few seconds, and is entirely unstable. I don't know what else to try. Can anyone on here please help me?
Sara- First- I have an Asus laptop with Nvdia Geforce GTX 660M 2gb. I have had it for 1.5 years and it has always been capable of streaming video quite fluidly...until now.

Second- This is for streaming videos only. If I use youtube downloader for exampe and play it through VLC, it works fine.

Thrid- I have already said I have done all the obvious steps. The remarkably common suggestion to....simply....restart the computer are not helpful, and I believe you know that.

It is not slow wifi as I am direct in, and have used the same connection for other devices just to be sure...they all stream perfectly fine accept for the one in question.

First of all you didn't tells us what kind of computer stats you have or what graphics card you have. For all we know you're computer is incapable of playing video.

Second of all - is this a video that you have already downloaded to your computer or is it a video that you are trying to play from the internet?

Third - have you tried, simply, restarting your computer? This should always be the first step before seeking help.

- if it is a internet stream - maybe your wifi is slow? maybe your browser sucks? Have you tried Chrome? Chrome plays better across the board - usually.

- do you have all the right codecs? Download and install Divx.

The answer is simple!

Your ''Cache'' (Temp Internet Files), Virtual Memory, and/or "PageFiling" are near-full
and cannot take anymore.  Simply delete your Cache (plus "Cookies" and "History"),
then clear your Memory with a shutdown & reboot.  Afterwards, you will freak at how
fast and non-choppy your YouTube will be.

Mozilla Firefox:
→  Tools  →  Options  →  Privacy ('key')  →  Clear Now
[x] Browsing History
[x] Cache
[x] Cookies
[x] Offline Website Data
[x] Authenticated Sessions
→  Clear Private Data Now

Google Chrome:
→  ≡  or wrench  → Tools  →  Clear browsing data
→  the beginning of time ▼
[x] Clear browsing history
[x] Empty the cache
[x] Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data
→  Clear browsing data

Internet Explorer 9 and 10:
→  Gear (icon)  →  Safety  →  Delete browsing history
[x] Temporary Internet files and website files
[x] Cookies and website data
[x] History
→  Delete

Internet Explorer 11:
→  Settings ('gear' icon on the far right side)  →  Options
(then under History)  →  "Select"
[x] Cached images
[x] Cookies
[x] Browsing History
→  Delete

Don't forget to completely shutdown & reboot afterwards.

:-)
