Ebates question about getting cashback?

I just joined ebates because I am going to rent some textbooks through chegg so I thought I should get some money back.
I found the Chegg link in ebates and clicked it, searched my textbooks and put them in the cart, but I am not ready to buy them just yet, so I closed the chegg window. Will I still get cash back when I actually buy the books? Do I have to click the ebates link to chegg or do I just click a regular chegg url?

I'm so confused!

It depends on the length of the cookie for the store ( which you can't tell for sure how it is ). If you want to do it right, you need to go back to ebates and click on chegg.
