My Printer Won't Connect to my Router?

My Printer Won't Connect to my Router?
Had an enormous storm that blew up my router and PC. Have got a new router and new PC, but now am unable to connect my printer wirelessly.

I have downloaded the HP windows 8 printer update, but keep getting told that the WPA log-in & password doesn't match. Presumably this is because I have a new router with a new password.

The message keeps telling me to reconfigure my printer settings - but I can't find any way to do this. How do I find somewhere to enter my new router password to reconfigure the printer?

The help instructions say to run the installation wizard again - but the original disc with the installation wizard won't run on windows 8.

The HP official website help procedure hasn't worked.

Am currently running the printer via a usb connection - but this rather defeats the object of having a wireless printer.

Anyone got any ideas how to fix? (Not too techie, please).

What's the model of the printer? If it's a modern HP printer it should have a setting button on it that looks like a wrench. There you should either find Settings/Internet Settings/Network. After finding the internet settings there should be a choice called "Wireless connection" or something similar. Some models has a Wireless Setup Wizard. After that you must enter your router password (WEP or WPA), and you're good to go.

The printer connecting to the router has nothing to do with the software on the computer.

I would suggest to be sure the old printer software is removed, then obtain your new printer CD, be sure the printer is not turned on, and the USB cable is not plugged in to the computer. Install this software, following the prompts, which will have you turn the printer on, and for the first and only time plug in the USB cable.

After this setup is complete, it will prompt through a wizard to hook the printer tirelesslynd configure your printer to your Belkin router.
