It Absolutely matters what position your in. Why? It's simple. People search in very similar ways. 90% of all search traffic is generated from the first 10 links (that is the first page). The bulk of that is generated from the first 5 links. There has been several studies highlighting these findings. One of these studies is listed below.

If you search either Yahoo or Google, you will will find more Informationn on why ranking number 1 is important.

PageRank, which is largely based upon the number and quality of backlinks a webpage has, is an important factor in how well a particular webpage ranks within the Google search results. The higher your page rank is the more credible, trusted your site will become.

Yes your place in the SERPs, Search Engine Result Page, is very important especially in marketing your website because internet usera hardly look the end pages just to find a good stuff. So, if you are in page 50 the less chance it would be visited compare when you are in the page one.

It totally depends on how much traffic you are seeking from the search engines. If you have followed other marketing techniques and getting good traffic from there and do not want to depend just on search engines then i think that is a smart move too. Getting a good rank on search engines is one of the best methods of getting traffic. But with so many websites to compete with, it might take lotta time and effort to get a page 1 result for your site. Hence if you care least about search engines then do follow other web marketing methods like classifieds, press releases, blogs, SEM etc. Once you have good traffic, and a search engine friendly site then Google will crawl and index your site appropriately.. It's all about getting traffic whichever way you can..

Hello! I have been writing articles on the web and taking advantage of search engine optimization techniques for quite a few years now. I am not sure if my info will help you out or not, but if you are looking to work from home, write blogs, use SEO techniques, do affiliate marketing, etc. then you may be interested in looking at my extensive SEO stop words list.

I have compiled this list through years of experience, mostly by trial and error. This is a list of words that you can plug into any keyword/keyphrase without causing any problems in the total SEO effectiveness. For example, if you are going to use the keyphrase "Furniture Repair Dallas", it would be difficult to use the phrase exactly as it is written without sounding a bit ridiculous. Using a stop word, "in" for example, would make the phrase sound much more logical, changing it to "Furniture Repair in Dallas".

My list of stopwords is very extensive, and will help anybody who wants to use SEO in their websites or internet-related work.
It has been published online at Associated Content. The URL for the list is below. If this link should break you can always look at my publisher's page and scroll through the topics to find SEO stopwords.

Yes ofcourse. if your website is at the first page on Gogole then there is mor ethan 90% chance users will visit your website and if your website is at the 50th position then there is less than 10% chance that they willl visit it.. So its a huge difference. Thanks.
