Ok I got a computer a while ago and I couldn't hook it up to my router because is in another room but my computer can be wireless.I get a steady 3-4 bars but my internet seems to be really slow regardless I read another question having the same problem and one of the solutions was to buy a powerline network adapter I don't know much about them and wouldn't know where to start looking can anyone recommend one or would it not work?

Hi There,

First thing I would do is to clear out your computer history and all the temp files.
If you are running windows it has a built-in disk cleanup program that works.
You can find it bu searching "speed up my computer" from the start button.
This search has a lot of good information and step-by-step instructions.

If that does not help you can try moving your computer near the router and plug it into a LAN port (using a cat 5e or cat 6 patch cable....standard ethernet cable) and see if the problem is with the internet connection.
If the internet is slow when wired directly you might call the ISP and they can check it.

To answer your question, powerline network adapters do work fine and they are not that expensive. But your wireless should work just as well.

Hope this helps,
Al
