Internet connection SOOO slow, Help!?

My husband and i share use of our laptop for surfing and word processing but last month loaded on new apple ipod nano and since then my husbands internet connection is painfully slow! (ipod loaded on to his side) My connection is not as bad but still slow. Have removed browsing history, emptied recycle bin and removed ipod from control panel. Please help but use simple terms as i am not completely computer literate. Thank you .

You can try defragmenting your computer. Just go to help on your desktop and type defragment...Basically it will reallign everything and run smoother...

"ccleaner" it is free.
it will clear cookies and temp files left by web browsing and give you back some memory+it will speed up your browsing.

A slow internet really bothers a lot. But why an internet connection becomes slow after few days? The reasons may be many.
