Why do videos lag on my computer?

When I watch a youtube video the audio lags and the video lags a little too. It does this no matter what quality resolution I set the video to. I used youtube downloader to download the video and see if the video would still lag and it did. It does this not for just youtube videos but all videos. Any help would be helpful thanks!

try installing the newest version of flash player here:

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

just make sure you un-check the optional Chrome install

1: dont use internet explorer
2:make sure your computer is reasonably fast to keep up with videos
3: make sure your internet is atleast 1mpbs
4: if you are on a pc, then clear out all the crap/bloatware slowing your system

My recommendation to you would be to clean up your computer and perform some maintenance on your operating system; by upgrading to the latest service pack, run your Anti-virus software within Safe Mode and get a faster browser like Google Chrome ( Internet Explorer sucks statistically and personally speaking). Make sure that you don't have a lot of services running on your computer in the background.
