while in smo (social media optimization) it is process of improving the website to tell about the visitors about their product/services.

According to me, SEO is much better than SMO in factor of keywords ranking improving. Lots of SEO techniques which can help to get a good keywords ranking by done it in proper manners. SMO is also a good but it mostly helps to generate traffic for website.
