Do you have to pay money for text alerts from twitter?

I've been wanting to get twitter text alerts for when someone i follow posts things Just wondering, do you have to pay money for when they text you?
In case it makes a difference, I live in Australia and I'm with Optus.

No, twitter text alerts are free. But if you tweet or reply to tweet via texts you'll be charged. Means you'll get tweets from people you follow for free but if you send text to twitter that will be charged.
N additionally you'll be charged only once to register your mobile number on twitter
