How can unknown artists get attention from art collectors?

Ok so I have to admit I am better at creating art than marketing it. The problem is both go hand and hand. So how do I get the attention of art collectors, and get them to not only notice but also buy my art. I have been creating art all my life and just need some actual tips from artists who have made it and from art collectors who collect my art.

sell to family, friends, coworkers, etc. create your own website and put links to other sites such as etsy. the more the better. enter in art competitions.
