I Don't think so.. there are more Middle Class people in our society and when they see someone posted about a New Smartphone every month and posts about their Cars and Hi-Fi Lifestyle, it makes them jealous. Facebook Depression is the same thing.
Most people don't know how to use it effectively and how to enhance their online reputation (see this if you also don't know http://the-bestselection.blogspot.com/20...-know.html ) and they do mistakes which kills their online reputation.

But Surely, for Business related people, it has raised their quality of living because it helps people to promote their business.

It depends on the individual. Social media does many greats things. It allows people from all over the world to talk to each other without any boundaries.
It's true some people use social media for pointless purposes, but the good it (and the Internet) does for the world greatly outweighs the effect it has on bored young people in Western countries.
It's all about freedom of information. Social media improves that.

Apart from getting you back in touch with old friends facebook has done nothing good
To many people who use facebook to much do just that and don't socialise or have real friendships anymore. Hell some people announce everything on facebook eg. Having a baby. Been so into facebook they have even forgotten how great those expressions are on people when you tell them face to face. Besides that to many people are fake on fb and so easy to do.
