I don't understand Twitter.?

Can someone please give me the basics?

The only thing you can do on twitter is post whatever it is your doing. That's ALL you can do.

Twitter is a micro blogging platform. You can sign up, have followers and follow someone.It is a way to spread information across the internet.

The things u can do is:
1) Follow the people u know or u like to know. Some of your friends may follow u .
2) U can share your up-to-date things/events .....by tweeting in your home page. The person who follows u will receive your tweets in their homepage. In this way they can send you reply or retweet your tweets. The people whom you follow and they don't follow you in return won't receive your tweets in their homepage. But u will receive theirs.
3) You can check the people whom replied /commented your tweets .........it is done by clicking the option on the right side of your page which is"@username" (the username which you use in twitter).
4) You can send personal direct messages too... But only to the person who follows you.

You will find it interesting if you add/follow more your own friends who use twitter.

Its quite simple really.

You can use Twitter in 2 different ways.

Personally I just use it to follow other people (bands, tv shows etc) for general updates and information. And obviously people follow favourite celebrities also. You can searh for them by name usually and can see which ones are "real" as the majority will have a blue "Veryfied" ribbon on the profile.

You can also use similar to facebook to keep people posted on what you are up to, upload photos, send private messages etc. But unlike facebook where you can write any amount of words, on Twitter you are restricted to 140 characters.

If you have a smart phone you can get all your updates etc sent to you so can use on the go.
