Well because SEO changes all the time colleges are not going to pick up those classes because it would cost them to much to constantly update the info.

I learned all my info from free SEO forums like Warriorforum, Blackhatworld, Wickedfire, etc

Hang out in the SEO sections and you will learn all you need.

My suggestions though if you want to kick start your learning process is to grab an eBook online and learn the basics first and use those forums to build off of so that you don't leave there with your head swirling.

Check out Amazon for those...

Anna,

I wouldn't invest any money in training sessions from providers of specific SEO tools—neither would I succumb to self-enthroned experts covertly promoting their business.

I would rather learn SEO from these 2 sources:

1. Google's SEO Starter Guide (free) http://www.google.com/support/webmasters...swer=35291
2. SEO All-in-One for Dummies ($26) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0470379...0470379731

What I like with Google SEO Starter Guide is that it goes straight to the point—no fluff whatsoever—, help you build strong foundations before doing anything else, and—last but not least—it comes directly from Google, hence it tells you what Google expects from a good and attractive website—really.

At first, one may not like a "for dummies" book—be it a cliché or not—but it's really informative and knowledgeably written. I think it's the best reference for newcomers in the field of SEO—I can tell because I own a copy myself, among other SEO books.
