Using a modem as wifi for ps3..?

If i buy a modem from wal mart can i use it to get wifi for my ps3 ? Or do i just need real internet?

Well, you would certainly need Internet first, of course, else you won't have a connection. How else would you get online, just like you are now? THEN you can use a modem. Though the service provider should [have] give[n] you a modem to use with your service. In which case, you can ask for a wireless model. Otherwise you would have to get a wireless modem that's compatible with your service.
