If I rent a movie on my iPad using iTunes, once downloaded, do I need an internet connection to watch it?
For example, I'd like to rent one for a trip on a flight, but don't want to need an internet connection. Does it stream or can you download the rental?

No, once it has been downloaded and it is on your iPad, you do not need Internet connection to watch it.
