is my boyfriend cheating on me?

my bf and i have been together almost ten months... the other day i checked his twitter direct messages on his phone because my friend told me he was telling these girls to "DM" him... i know it was wrong to go behind his back to do that but i just needed to know what he had to talk so privately about with them.... so he was giving these girls his number and saying "ILY" and sending hearts and saying he wanted to go visit them at their house.

when i brought this up to him in tears he got all mad and teared up too because i told him i wanted to break up. Then he said that those messages were from before we even met; but they were the most recent ones (it said January 6 on the convos) and said that because he got a new phone, all his messages got mixed up and he wished i could see all the convos of him saying how much he loved me. i find it very hard to believe a twitter app would mess up the messages like this, but its also hard to doubt him because i love him so much. BTW he deleted his twitter after i found this out.


P.S he has lied before about being a virgin, and other things but he said he would never do it again.
what should i believe?

You shouldn't believe him. You found proof that he was lying to you. If you decide to forgive him he'll likely end up lying to you more and more. I wouldn't take that chance if I were you.

Dear Ashley, you checked on his account because you were told by your friend that he was contacting other girls. You looked and it was confirmed. Twitter did not screw up, your boyfriend did. You need to trust your gut. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, guess what? It's a duck. This boy has a history of lying...there is your answer. Continue on with him and you will have nothing but misery. You love a cheater and a liar....is that what you want?
