How to make a slideshow with pictures and music?

Ok so I need some help on this. My sister is having a wedding soon, and she wants to show a slideshow/video with all kind of different pictures and with music. What are some free, or at least some cheap programs that this can be done with? I need to be able to put it on a disc as well, to play it on whatever computer may be available. Keep in mind I don't have a lot of experience with computer programs like this, so ones that are simple to use would also be appreciated. Thanks for your help in advance
