help with marketing my music online?
I'm an online musician, and I think I've done everything I can to market my music online, but I wanted to see if you guys had anymore ideas. So far, I've got my own website, myspace page, facebook page, facebook fan page, youtube vids, tunecore, jango airplay, thesixtyone.com, and underworldmixradio. can you guys think of anything else?

I'm in the same boat but don't know anything about marketing. I'm through playing nightclubs, bars, festivals and every seedy joint known to man. I just record songs in my home studio now.

your approach is very passive- try actively marketing yourself- reach out to blogs and college radio and the podcast community- give away some of your music if you ever want it to catch on. find time to play live at any open mic night in your area and try to build grassroots support. some of these approaches are 'old-school', but I for one don't just sit around looking to discover unknown artists to listen to. offer your services to other 'online' artists for collaborating, producing, writing jingles, theme songs- whatever. basically, work at it with a passion to get everyone out there to WANT to listen.
p.s. perhaps you should begin referring to yourself as a 'musician', instead of an online-one. |
