Internet Connection help please!?
My bf is getting really frustrated because something happened to his computer so any help would be greatly appreciated. okay so his internet just stopped working. he has wireless internet and his rouder is connected to his other computer that is working. the computer that isnt working says to choose a wireless netowrk but there are no networks in range. the rouder says he should have internet connection, but he doesnt. is there any easy way to fix this problem?

If his computer is not picking up the signal he needs to move closer. If its still not picking up a signal, depending on what program he is using to connect with (IE or belkin or,,,) he should try the other program. Sometimes Belkin dont work so hot, and I need to switch to IE.

Also he may have a setting in his wireless network that he needs to fix.
Like if hes trying to ad hock or something.. (he dont want to ad hock) he just wants to connect, it also could be that he needs to reset up his networking, (control panel, networking devices) and click new, it should try to connect.

right click the icon in your system tray and select "Diagnose and Repair" it should tell you the problem

Maybe the wireless switch on the computer is off. Or maybe he can try powering down the router and power it back on.

try rebooting the computer completely and restarting the whole thing back up. Sounds like a communication problem between the router and the computer itself.

You are saying that his router is connected to his computer? A router is a device that allows you to use more than one computer to an internet connection/ISP, so all the computers should be connected to the router, whether it be wired or wireless

First, make sure that his modem is set up and working, it may be a good idea to connect the modem directly to the computer and see in the internet works that way, there should be downstream and upstream lights (might be labeled as UP/DN, US/DS, or just Up\Down), if both lights are on, that means that the modem is connected to the ISP properly and is working, there should be a "Link" light, if the ethernet cable is connected from the modem to the computer or router, that light should be on, and if you are connected directly to the computer, it should work fine, if not, try resetting the modem

After you have ruled out the modem, make sure the modem is connected to the router's WAN port (do not connect the modem in ports 1 through 4, these are only for computers), then reset the modem just to be sure, now check the front of the router and make sure the WAN light is on, this means that the router is connected to the modem, and has sucessfully connected to the internet, if you can't get the router to connect to the modem, check to make sure the ethernet cable is in good shape and terminated correctly (you can find this out by doing a search for 568B, 568A will also work), if you don't want to go through checking the cable, try replacing the cable and see if that works

Once you get the router working, then try connecting a computer, this can be wireless or wired, if he has security enabled, enter the password\key and see if you can connect to the router, (try logging into the router once you connect, if he has a linksys router, try typing 192.168.1.1 into the web browser, the third and sometimes fourth set of numbers differs depending on router brand), if you can sucessfully connect to the router's settings page, try going to a site like yahoo.com or google.com (or any site), you should be able to connect without a problem

After you get everything working, connect all the computers and make sure they work, after you get them all connected, everything should work fine
