How to get people to like your facebook page?

I made a facebook fan page and only my family has liked it and about 1 friend that in total would be about 3 so how can i get more people to find my page and like it i saw that you can advertise by then i saw you had to pay which i think its crazy to pay just to advertise your page so how can i make it so people can find it i have i regular facebook profile to so should i mention it their

You can refer to your facebook page everywhere, conscious or unconscious. For example here.
Other ways, your facebook page' content should be satisfied with folks, most people like it, but no advertisement. Also you must update frequently.

why? bother they are going to take out the profile pages and we are going to have to remake our home pages again anyway

You can create a contest of what you are interested in like for me I like art. You can create your own event.
