How can you get your page history back in internet explorer?

How can you get your page history back in internet explorer?
How can you do this? I mean to back track over previous pages you have been on in IE? when I click on the star at the top right that says: view favorites, feeds and history and go onto history all I seem to get is just a list of things like images and videos I played during that day and they are not the searches/pages I was on.

Go to the opposite side of the page and click tools. Go to internet options and under general tab, look what your history setting is. It could be that its deleting it on exit .
