What are the chances that a nobleperson in England could have a FB account?
Hello dear Yahoo friends,
I'm not British and I'm writing a novel. I was thinking that one of my characters is a nobleman, with a peerage title (from England) and he has a FB account. Do you think that could be feasible in real life or is it impossible that someone with a nobility title should have a public social network profile? This would be someone with a low-rank title, like a Baronet. What are the chances that a baronet could have a FB account with his real name on it? Thank you in advance for your answers Ads |

i think it highly likely that quite a large number or aristocrats and nobility would have Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Just as likely, many of them would not use their real names, to avoid spammers and trolls.

If you're writing a novel including a baronet character, you need to be aware that 'baronet' is not a peerage title and that a baronet isn't a nobleman. Also that the word 'nobleman' is very rarely used outside history books and technical discussions of nobiliary law, and the word 'nobleperson' doesn't exist at all.
In terms of social attitudes, there would be no difference between the social-media habits of a titled person and any other member of the upper classes. Be aware also that many people with peerage titles have been given them for achievement in political and other careers and so they are not members of the traditional upper class. So your question doesn't relate to anything meaningful in British social habits at all. |

1. Baronet is an hereditary honor, but not a peerage title. A baronet is just the
highest-ranking equivalent of the knighthood, being an honor that can be passed to the next generation. Knighthoods are life honors, so the ability to pass the baronetcy is a higher-ranking. Nobles are duke/duchess, marquess/marchioness, earl/countess, viscount/viscountess, and baron/baroness. 2. Some nobles have their own WEBSITES in order to publicize their estates, which are open to the public for tours and the like. It could be possible that a titled aristocrat have a public Facebook page for that purpose. A private page is more likely used for friends-only if a noble has a page just for personal use. Prince Harry had a private Facebook page. The British monarchy has public Facebook and Twitter. |

There are many aristocrats and even royals with Facebook accounts. The account of James Middleton was hacked not long ago and the accounts of Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Beatrice and many more were compromised as a result.

William and Harry are two of the biggest and thickest chavs around so no doubt are avid FB fanatics. Having a title in the UK does not mean you are noble, bright or a worthy citizen. It merely means that you either gave the Government a lot of money or sucked up to someone.

The younger ones do, but mostly have their profiles set as private.
