Android portable wifi hotspot?

Is there a way I can use my LG Optimus L7 as portable wifi hotspot for my iPod touch (5th gen)? I still want to be able to text and call from my phone, but I want to use iMessage from my iPod.

as long as you have internet connection on your phone it shouldn't be a problem. just set up the connection on your phone -> wifi hotspot, chose a name for the network and connect with your ipod
you should still be able to use non-internet functions with your phone at the same time. at least I could when I did it on a sony ericsson x10i a few years back (don't use android anymore)
