why are there ads all over my tumblr?

I use Chrome and I really want to avoided switching to IE or FireFox at all cost.
Anyways, everytime I get on my tumblr there are ads everywhere, on my dash and on my blog, but not on any other site, its making my internet run kinda slow, and they're just annoying. I removed all my extensions and the ads are still there. HELPP!!!

You need to install the Adblock extension. That takes care of the vast majority of display ads.

As for why they are there, welcome to Web 2.0, just a more intrusive version of Web 1.0. There are unfortunately people who would use "social" media sites full of ads such that you have only a postage stamp sized area for your content if it was "free". The only object in Web 2.0 seems to be making money at all possible cost to the users (cost in terms of giving up their information). I just can't wait for Web 3.0!
