Do you have to pay Ebay if your item sells?
I'm trying to start up a "business" to help me with money to travel with in Europe. Yes i am young, but it's good learning skills. (i'm 15) I want to sell things on Ebay, but it's saying I may have to pay if my item sells?! Is that true?! I'm not charging that much for my jewelry, so I would be losing money. I tried reading the thing on Ebay, but it's too complicated to me. Can someone dumb it down please? I want to know before I link up my PayPal account. Thanks!
Please note that I am under my mother's Ebay, and the bank has allowed me access to PayPal, under my mom's name as a sub account, due to my age.

1. 15 year olds CANNOT be on eBAY at all.

2. When you turn 18, you can get an account and sell. Of course there are fees. That's how eBay stays in business.

3. That Paypal account had better be a student account under your parents as Paypal as an 18+ rule too.

Of course you pay EBay when your item sells. That's how they make money. You pay for listing fees and for a percentage of the sale price. Figure about 13 percent of the sale price if you have a minimal listing and avoid most options. You would only lose money on a sale if you sold your product for what it cost you to buy or to make (or even less). You need to add up your cost for the product plus the cost for EBay plus postage and then add an additional amount for your profit. I missed the bit about your age. So far as I know, EBay does NOT ask you for any photocopies of identification, as the other answer suggests. You do have to state that you are over 18, and making a false statement would be fraud. It sounds like your best bet would be to have the assistance of an adult (parent, sibling, etc.) who has a valid account. Good luck.

You cannot sell on Ebay until you are 18. That is for legal reason of making a contract to sell and accept money. Try Craigslist instead. Or, ETSY for handmade jewelry.

You pay around 9% fee when you sell something and 3% fee when you get paid.

One reason why children like you are prohibited from using eBay and Paypal is that you expect other people to work for you for free. When you grow up, you'll learn better.
