easy 2 points! internet connection question?

My internet connection is working, but when i try to use the internet it says page cannot be found, and all net apps dont work, saying the connection is down.
i checked adapters, and tried reinstalling them and giving them ip's from ipconfig and all that.
when i repair lan connection adapter, it works, but when i try to repair the 1394 adapter, it does not work, saying Tcp/ip not enabled. Cannot repair, but when i check it it is enabled
what do i do? bridge connections or what?

Please check if your Firewall is blocking the connection.To check it,disable your firewall software.Then try connecting.

==>Also check if you require any proxy server for connecting to the internet.If your internet connection is not direct,you will have to set the proxy server address and the port number in internet explorer.
