Why is ubuntu terribly slow in public wifi?

I'm using dual-boot. When i use internet in Windows7, it works fast. But in ubuntu, soooo slow.
Both work great in private access. Does anybody know what the problem is?

Turn off the shopping and online search lenses and see if that helps.
I've found searching in unity to be extremely slow because it is first searching all the local stuff and then all the online stuff.
It depends on your internet speed though.
If you have a slow internet connection, then that is most likely the case.
Maybe you should see if ubuntuforums.org can help you out.
