How can I get rid of the share option on a facebook status?

I find it strange how people are able to share my status updates, but I don't have the option to share their's. Is there a setting for this? Can I disable people from sharing my status update? I don't update much, but in the rare case I do, I like to keep things private so that only my friends can see.

You can only share people's public posts.if you want to keep yr things private, set the privacy of your posts to friends so that they cannot share it any more

It looks like you have your privacy settings set to "public" rather than just "friends". People can only share posts that their privacy is set to the public. Next time you update something, you can change public to friends. There is also a setting in your "privacy settings" where you can choose what the default setting for your next post will be. Set that setting to friends.
