ICS do i need to use a firewall and or antivirus ?

So i am using my laptops wirless connection to get internet on my desktop pc.

It's setup like this

Vrgin hub ( with wireless on) > Laptop ( connected wireless) > Desktop pc ( ethernet )

The Laptop has firewall and antivirus enabled as does the Dektop pc.


I won't be using the laptop at all, it will just remain on to give internet to my desktop pc until i decide to buy a wireless adapter for it.

Can i turn off the AV and Firewall on one of them ?

Unless the AV and firewall are causing significant problems leave them enabled. If you are accessing the Internet, use all the protection you can.

If you have to turn one off, turn it off on the laptop is you are using it purely for ICS. If you start using the laptop normally again, do thorough scans of the laptop for viruses and malware before doing anything serious on it.
