How do you get Followers on Twitter?

None of my friends have Twitter and I want more followers. Any ideas of how to start off? I see a lot of articles on how to increase followers but how do you start off? I only have 1 follower so far called ANTHEMband and apparently there a famous japanese heavy metal band. Kinda random.

I went through that when I started Twitter. I would just randomly tweet about what I was doing. Watching tv, going out, random stuff. I also tweet a lot about sports, and a lot of people liked it, so now I have 86 followers. Plus, the more you tweet about stuff, the more people will be willing to follow, b/c if you only update your Twitter a couple times a week, people will be less likely to follow. So basically, if you want more followers, tweet a lot. Another thing is to tweet about the trending topics on the homepage.
