Appropriate to inquire about a job via Twitter?
I'm looking for an afterschool, part-time job this year, as I am a teenager, and I was wondering how appropriate it would be to tweet or DM local businesses around the area inquiring about available positions. Why Twitter? Why not do it the old fashioned way and send them an email or go into the business and ask? I don't know, there are two places that are following me, replied to me, etc. and now I feel like I have the opportunity to get there attention. As more and more local businesses get on Twitter, would it hurt my chances of getting a job from them if I asked them for it via Twitter?
Thanks so much! What about emails or phone calls? It sounds like I'm lazy, I know, but honestly I'm just nervous and shy. Ads |

Hey!
I'd advise you not to do it through twitter. Yes, it's more modern and fast, but that's not what most employers want. I usually answer the phones/emails/social media at my job, and I was told that if anyone asks through media and not face to face, to instantly reject them. So my advice is to do it the old fashioned way and get in there with the people, because that's what they usually prefer. (At least from my job experience) Hope this helps! Ads |
