I have this addiction with an "imaginary life"?
Okay I have this… problem, if you will. Where I basically have two lives; one being my real life and the other is just an imaginary life.
Lets start with my real life. I have an average amount of friends only had a relationship with another once. But only 2-3 friends that actually call me up to hangout. However their dorming at college now so I rarely go out. I also have a facebook with only a group of people I usually chat with. I was never employed with any type of job and pretty shy.
Now my imaginary life. In my fake life I have many friends whom I hangout with a lot. Sometimes through games or just getting some lunch/dinner. I have a girlfriend whose name seems to change everytime (I guess depends on my mood).
Now the problem. When I am on the computer and ran out of things to do I just sit listen to soothing music and go into my fake life hanging out with some friends and have imaginary conversations with these people created in my head. I also go in the state during classes at school when I’m bored, when I’m eating, or while taking a shower. I also have these imaginary thoughts before going to sleep. I will admit that I enjoy my imaginary world more than my real life. My imaginary life time goes according to my real life so basically its, I guess like a portal to another world…(?). There are no crazy stuff that goes on my imaginary like flying cars and whatever. Its just a life I will want to have one day. When I dream on during class I usually imagine myself sitting in class chatting with a couple friends or knowing the answers to my work. I tried erasing these imaginary friends from my brain but when I see pictures of my (real) friends on facebook just hanging out or having a good time, my imaginary friends come back and I make pictures of my own.
Yes, this seems kinda crazy, I have been having this issue since the January 2012 but didn’t happen too often back then. Since the beginning of college, around June, I’ve been having these imaginary thoughts more often. Anyone know of this…problem and how it can be solved?
please help.

I have a feeling this is the life you desperately want to have but don't. You should try to take your imaginary life and fuse it with your real life, try to make new friends and get that "imaginary" girlfriend of yours. But perhaps that existence is reality..... It is said that existence is relative..

It's not quite a problem; it's just you fantasizing about having a booming social life-- nothing more. You don't seem delusional at all, meaning you don't actually THINK that this "imaginary" life if your real life. You're just internally practicing escapism, where everything goes according to how you would have liked it to. It wouldn't sound as crazy to you if you took these thoughts and made them into a story of some kind. Then people would simply say that you are living vicariously through your story. The advice that comes with this is a different topic, involving getting out more, making friends, etc., which may be a whole different dilemma. But what you're doing given your situation is not abnormal.

What you're explaining sounds like maladaptive daydreaming. I used to think I had that problem... then I realized I was just watching too much television. Anyway, I found a group on Yahoo! that might help and explain it better.
