I need details about the facebook game Pirates of the Caribean?

I really need to know though some details about this game such as is there a chat line in it as well? My bf told me that this game goes by itself while he can be doing something else on his pc-that it does not actually need you to be on top of it - you just set it and play on your rules or something..is this true???
I need answers to my questions by someone who actually knows the game!
