Internet connection problems?
I'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.0.7. Recently, I can't access some websites. When I uninstalled my version of windows live messenger to install the new version, the new version could not be installed. The error message keeps telling me to check my internet connection settings. At the windows live messenger download page, whenever I click on the "download" button, I just get an error message saying: "The connection was refused when attempting to contact g.live.com."

Some programs also cannot be installed. When I tried installing McAfee or any other antivirus programs, they all gave me error messages telling me to check my internet connection.

There is nothing wrong with my internet connection as I am able to get to other websites. However, when I try to connect to other networks, which requires a change to the proxy settings or asks for a password, my computer is unable to connect.

I tried using Internet Explorer and Safari they did not work, so it's not a problem with Firefox.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Do you use a software firewall? Norton, trend micro, ect its possible that it might be blocking those apps. Also if you use a dsl modem or a cable modem & router try turning them off or unplugging the power supply to them shut down your computer. Wait about 20 sec turn on the modem & router if you use it wait until the lights are all on again turn on the computer try your internet connection again.
