Is "www.odesk.com", an online job site, safe?
I've recently joined this online job site, and I'm worried since I have no friend who actually works here to verify its safety. HELP!

It's one of the top ranked freelance marketplaces, just be aware that you are working for individual "employers" some of which will be fraudulent. There should be both worker and employer history and reviews you can consult, winning bids will come easier when you have accumulated some satisfied customers. Getting good online exam scores there will help qualify for more jobs as well.
