can i report a hack on facebook to the police?

a person called Michael Thomas sent me a friend request yesterday on Facebook, and I don't accept anyone who I don't know. They started talking to me on message and I got creeped out so I said I had to leave. I was talking to my friend also and then the person came back and said I was lying about leaving. I ignored this and carried on talking to my friend. This creep then started saying things that me and my friend were talking about, and he said that Facebook has really bad security...I got so scared and he wouldn't leave me alone. I then decided to say to my friend that I would get the police involved, and I think he got scared because he said not to get the police and left. I never thought a thing like that would happen to me and I literally freaked out.
I have anxiety too which made it worse because I got scared the creep would find where I lived or something.

can I report this to the police or not?

I don't know , you can report to the police but the best should get in touch with the people at facebook, and only in exceptional cases to contact the police

I don't think you have to report it yet, he might just be some random annoying creepy person (unfortunately there's a lot out there -_-) you and your friend should just flag him or whatever it's called, and if he STILL contacts you, then I think you can report to the police. Don't worry too much though for now. Just report/flag him on facebook.
