How to announce things on FB without bragging?
How do you announce things like new jobs, pregnancy, etc., on Facebook without coming off as bragging? I have a cousin who just got a really cool job and is moving 6 hours away. He uses FB to keep in touch with a lot of family, so he announced his move and job on there. Most of the comments were positive, but one person accused him of bragging.

How do you announce things like this without bragging? He felt like he needed to make an announcement, not for the job so much, but because of the move and he was leaving town.

Sharing with the FB community some exciting joyful news can easily be done without being done in an arrogant boastful manner.

"Hey everyone. I've some wonderful news to share with you all. Today I got a new job offer! I think I'm going to love this job and I can't wait to get started. The downside is I'm going to have to leave town but not to worry, we can still keep in touch on FB and with occasional visits. I'll miss you all like crazy."

Sounds to me like the person who accused him of bragging was being envious. Simply telling everyone about his good fortune in landing a cool job and sharing his excitement is just a normal thing to do. Being proud of one's accomplishments is not a bad thing. Some just cannot handle others' success.

I tend towards agreeing with Myrrh. You will always have "haters" that try to downplay or bellyache that they don't have the same good fortune as others. I would just say "Consider the source and move on"

the accuser was probably just jealous. no one else seemed to mind, so, i say, go for it!

im sure your cousin announced in in a non bragging way...that person must be jealous...most people would be happy that a friend got a job.

Its all in how you say it. for example:

I got a new Job! is good

I got a new Job because I am so amazing and my new boss took me out for fancy coffees!

This is bad because "I am amazing" sounds like bragging and "going out for fancy coffees" is bragging because its unnecessary details, makes it sound like you are gloating.

In other words don't post every little thing that happens to you or always talk about how awesome you are and you will be fine
