do require you to use the internet.

however, apps that are single player and use formats similar to flash, 1 page javascript, or javaapplet do not necessarily require you to use the internet. for example, if the app is simply a single player flash game, not like farmville and such, than no, you don't need the internet, you can either load it and don't close it, or down load the swf file and play it while you are off line.

However, in essence, yes the apps are required to be loaded at least one time for them to work.
