Is this true even if the new website name just redirects the viewer to another webpage? Thank you.

An exact match keyword domain name would probably require content and SEO to deliver traffic, the remaining names may be best suited for narrow niche sites. Certainly you want to do your search traffic research and consider the commercial intent of the word, those attracting people ready to spend money are much more valuable.
Google reps said they were "looking into" the unfair advantage some of these sites have. If you have product related website then it is 70 percent worth to buying a website name with keyword because people can easily identify your website through a keyword .It also helps to increase the traffic on your website if you mention the keyword in your website name.
