Internet Explorer won't open, it just opens a downloads window?
Whatever way I try to open Internet explorer on the desktop, it flashes up the normal internet home page, then that disappears, replaced by the Downloads window asking me what I want to do with the downloaded page. If I select "open" then it simply repeats the flash of page, followed by another item (the homepage) on the download list, again asking what I want to do with my downloaded home page.
Internet explorer will work from the windows 8 tile page, but I find this very awkward to use and want to open internet explorer from the desktop. Every user on the computer is finding the same.

How do we fix it?

Option 1: Reset internet explorer by doing the following.
1. Open Internet Explorer in desktop (the broken) mode, and click on gear icon on the top right.
2. Click Internet Options.
3. Go to the Advanced Tab.
4. Click the Reset button at the bottom, try doing this without deleting personal settings first. If that doesn't work, you can try deleting personal settings.

Also if you can't find the gear or internet options option, or it is unclickable, you can access the internet options dialog by holding down the flag/windows/meta/four squares (whatever you want to call it) key between ctrl and alt and then hitting the letter R on your keyboard once on the desktop while holding down said flag key. Then release the key and in the run dialog that appears, type in "inetcpl.cpl" without the quotes and press enter.

Option 2:
Download and use another browser like google chrome, comodo (which is based on chrome), or firefox.
