Information of buying a domain name?
Ok, so I've tried googling my answer and looking on the godaddy.com forums, which to me felt like a labyrinth.

I'm wanting to know what exactly I'm getting if I was to buy a domain name ONLY from godaddy.com, and if it would be easier to buy a hosting plan with it rather than buying it in the future.

Godaddy is known for swamping you with upgrade offers, but you can just decline all of those, as long as you always search the internet for coupon codes when you make a Godaddy transaction you can do OK, there are codes for cheap domain names right now. Consenses seems to be that their registrar service is better than their hosting.

Many hosting plans often bundle a domain name with the package, as a convenience, but some registrars can make it difficult or expensive to transfer the domain name to a different registrar, sort of holding it hostage, while most people have no problem, some advise getting the hosting and domain name from separate companies if possible, though it's a little less hassle for someone new to just get a bundle deal.

You know some fre hosts allow you to use a Godaddy domain name with them, some charge an upgrade fee for it, Google's Blogger is one that does not charge (though it's a technical labyrinth getting the name setup)

All that you get with the domain name is just that - the domain name. So if the domain is zxcvbnm.com then you get that name, but no hosting. Hosting is what actually takes the files - so yes, either you can buy it all at once or use another company offering hosting.

It doesn't matter if you buy hosting right away - if you don't have your site ready you can always wait until its ready to launch to buy your web hosting.

Firstly, you don't actually "buy" a domain name but "register" one for a set period ie 1 year or up to 10 years. It's yours to use for that period of time.

Many well known marketers advise that you shouldn't use the same business for domain registration and hosting but use separate ones ie use Godaddy for your registration and some one like Hostgator for your hosting.

Establish the main keyword of your site.
One of the very first things that you need to do in order to gain success in online marketing is to establish the main keyword of your site. When you are able to do that, you can make use of it and optimize your web page with it. If possible, you can also make use of it for your domain name.
