eBay add to cart option?

I was on eBay looking for hard case macbook covers to buy and I clicked "add to my cart" and in a few hours I was gonna purchase the item but I came back and it said it was already purchased. I'm not sure what happened at all and I don't have a paypal account linked to my ebay and I never even entered a credit card so how could this have happened? I sent a message to the seller but I'm really worried they're gonna leave me negative feedback and then I won't be able to buy anything from ebay. How could this have happened?

You clicked the wrong button. Things mysteriously get 'bought' unless you buy them - but why the big deal if you were going to buy it anyway?

I believe the shopping cart is really just a shopping list, you are not reserving the item like a physical cart in a grocery store. Until you commit to buying the item it's up for grabs, this is part of the inner working of Ebay, the seller was completely unaware of your interest.
